Borderline once more [Apr. 7th, 2008|08:11 pm]

So, I met my new shrink today and very bluntly labeled me with boarderline personality disorder.  Not that it is the first time I have heard that, but why is it that any woman that is even slightly neurotic gets that label?

"they" tried to label me with that when i was sixteen, which is funny because it specifies in the diagnostic criteria that you must be over 18 to get the diagnosis because of the way adult personality is different from adoloscent personality. but then "they" took it away a few years later because i sorta grew out of my most borderline behaviors. don't feel bad! borderlines can recover these days, not like years ago when someone with bpd was deemed untreatable. i really like dialectical behavioral therapy and i particularly like a module called "seeking safety" which uses a dbt model but tailors it towards trauma survivors. all the label is in the end is a set of behaviors that enough people share to need to call it something. it doesn't mean you are any less. it just means you have a specific set of needs that many people might not understand. sending you lots of nice thoughts miss mia.

I want to look into the "safety seeking" a past therapist has mentioned the dialectical behaviorial therapy, butwe never got into it. Thank you for the nice thoughts, sending many your way as well.

oh lordie. they label everyone that these days, because everyone has some borderline qualities in them. it even says that in the book, "i hate you, dont leave me". lordie.

How are you. Did you follow through and go to psychotherapy for this? It's torturous. I do believe Paige was Bipolar and had BPD. I wish you well.
